This policy explains how AmusementPins handles information when you use our website, official apps, accounts, pin database, maps, image tools, and related services.
1. Who we are
AmusementPins is an independent project operated in Utah, United States. We maintain our core application, databases, submitted pin images, moderation records, image-processing systems, and project-managed backups on infrastructure we control.
We also use outside services for network delivery, security, sign-in, email, app distribution, and advertising. Self-hosting our database does not mean that every part of using the site stays on our servers.
For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
2. Age requirements
You must be at least 13 to create an account, upload images, submit pins, or provide personal information through AmusementPins. Public pages can be viewed without an account.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through accounts or submissions. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take appropriate steps to remove it as required by law. Parents or guardians can contact us at the address above.
Advertising and other automatic data collection are described below and can occur on public pages. We must apply any required child-directed or under-age advertising restrictions when they apply; the account age limit alone does not replace those protections.
3. Information you give us
When you create or use an account, we may collect your username, email address, profile name or image, preferences, age confirmation, account status, and login information. For password-based accounts, passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable passwords.
Pin submissions may include photographs, descriptions, park and ride names, manufacturers, dates or date estimates, edition details, sightings, sources, links, and notes. We also keep contribution, edit, and moderation history.
If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and any attachments. This includes support requests, corrections, content reports, copyright complaints, privacy requests, and appeals.
Google sign-in
If you choose Google sign-in, Google may provide your email address, name, profile picture, and an account identifier, depending on the permissions requested and information available. We use that information to create or link your account and sign you in. We do not receive your Google password. Google handles its part of the sign-in process under its own privacy policy.
Collections and scan jobs
We store pins you add to your collection and information needed to provide collection features. Collections and profile information may be public depending on the feature and your settings.
When you use Scan My Collection, we may store the uploaded photo, processing status, possible pin matches, your confirmations, and resulting collection changes. Keeping a scan job lets you leave the page and return to review it. We may send a completion email to your account email address. A suggested match is not automatically a confirmed collection item; you review and confirm the results.
4. Information collected automatically
Our systems and service providers may process your IP address, browser and device details, operating system, pages requested, referring page, access times, errors, login events, and security or rate-limit events.
Where advertising is enabled, advertising partners may also process cookie or device identifiers, page visits, approximate location derived from an IP address, ad impressions, and ad interactions. The information used depends on the ad settings, your choices, and applicable requirements.
Ordinary browsing does not require precise GPS location.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies, session identifiers, and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, provide features, and protect the site. Cloudflare may also use cookies or similar technology for security and traffic management.
Where ads are enabled, Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, local storage, or similar technologies to deliver ads, measure performance, limit repeated ads, and detect fraud. Where permitted and enabled, these technologies may also support personalized advertising.
You can manage browser storage through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other features from working. Advertising choices are explained in Section 10.
6. Public contributions
Public pin records, submitted photographs approved for publication, descriptions, sources, contributor names, profile details, edit history, and public collections may be visible to visitors and search engines.
Do not include private or sensitive information in public contributions. Other people may copy, download, share, cache, or archive public material. We cannot control copies made outside AmusementPins.
A photo uploaded only for a search or collection scan does not become a public pin photograph merely because you used that feature. Submitting it separately for publication is a different action.
7. Images and AI-assisted tools
We store submitted images on systems we control. We may resize, crop, compress, convert, watermark, create thumbnails, remove metadata, restore, or upscale them. Images can contain location, camera, time, or other metadata, so check your files before uploading. We do not guarantee that every type of metadata will be removed.
Our image-processing and image-search tools use self-hosted systems. They may generate visual features, image fingerprints, similarity vectors, descriptions, classifications, and possible matches. We do not send uploaded pin images to outside AI providers for these functions or supply them to third-party AI companies to train general-purpose models.
We may display an enhanced photograph while retaining the original privately for provenance, comparison, reprocessing, moderation, and recovery. A private original is not intended to become public simply because an enhanced copy is published.
Search and scan photos, derived information, results, and temporary copies may be kept as needed to complete jobs, allow results to be reviewed, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and maintain records. Automated results can be wrong or contain visual artifacts.
8. Maps and Cloudflare
Our maps use OpenStreetMap-derived data served through self-hosted map infrastructure. Map requests may record your IP address, requested tiles or geographic area, browser information, and request times. Viewing a location on a map does not necessarily mean you are physically there. OpenStreetMap data is subject to its license and attribution requirements.
We use Cloudflare for services such as traffic routing, caching, HTTPS delivery, DNS, performance, and protection against attacks or bots. Cloudflare may process request and response information, IP addresses, device details, and security data. Public resources may be cached outside our origin servers. This does not make private archived source images public.
See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its practices.
9. How we use and disclose information
We use information to operate accounts and collections, publish contributions, provide search and scans, process images, deliver maps, send service emails, moderate content, answer requests, maintain records and backups, improve features, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Where advertising is enabled, information is also used to display and measure ads and, where permitted and enabled, personalize them.
Outside providers may process information needed for their services, including Google sign-in, email delivery, Cloudflare, advertising, and app distribution. We may also disclose information to comply with valid legal requests, investigate fraud, address rights complaints, enforce our terms, protect users or systems, or defend legal claims.
We do not provide private account records or uploaded search and scan photos to data brokers. Advertising partners can receive technical information directly through ad technology, as explained below.
10. Advertising and your choices
AmusementPins may display ads through Google AdSense. When ads are enabled, Google and other third-party vendors or ad networks may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to AmusementPins and other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve personalized ads based on those visits, where personalization is enabled and permitted by your choices and applicable requirements.
Advertising providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser or device details, identifiers, and ad interactions to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. We do not need to hand over your account password or private scan photos to display ads.

- How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
- Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google's advertising settings, where you can manage personalized advertising.
- AboutAds choices, which provides opt-out options for participating advertising companies.
Where a consent message is shown, you can accept, reject, or manage the available advertising choices. Use the Privacy and cookie settings link provided with that message to reopen your choices or withdraw consent. The consent interface identifies participating advertising providers and links to information about their practices.
Where consent is required, advertising storage and personalization must follow your consent choices. Choosing non-personalized ads does not necessarily stop all processing: cookies or identifiers may still be used for functions such as fraud prevention or measurement, subject to applicable requirements.
We do not sell account information or uploaded photos to data brokers. However, disclosures through advertising technology may count as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws, even without payment for the data. Where those laws apply to us, you may opt out using the applicable privacy controls or contact us. We honor recognized browser opt-out signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where legally required, and apply restricted data processing where appropriate.
11. Retention and deletion
We retain information as needed to provide the service, maintain contribution history, preserve source material, review moderation, protect security, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Temporary jobs, photos, logs, and backups can have different retention periods. We do not promise a fixed deletion period for every category.
You can request account deletion through an available account setting or by emailing us. Account access and private account details may be removed or anonymized. Public attribution may be removed or changed to a deleted-user label. Contributions may be removed, retained, or anonymized depending on their nature and our lawful basis for retaining them. Independently documented facts about pins may remain.
You can also request removal of an image you own or submitted. When a request is accepted, we remove the applicable public and processed copies. Copies may remain temporarily in backups, caches, or necessary security and moderation records until they expire. We may retain an image where there is another lawful basis or separate permission to do so.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to a privacy regulator.
Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity or authority. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions, including protecting another person's rights or retaining necessary security records. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
13. Security and processing location
We use measures such as HTTPS, password hashing, access controls, security logging, rate limits, updates, and backups to protect information. No service can guarantee complete security. We will notify affected people or authorities of a security incident where required by law.
AmusementPins operates in Utah, United States. Outside providers, including network, email, sign-in, and advertising providers, may process information in other countries. Where legally required, appropriate safeguards must apply to international transfers.
14. External sites and policy changes
External links and ads may lead to services we do not control. Those services have their own privacy practices.
We update this policy when our features or data practices change. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate or required. A policy update does not replace consent where consent is required.
